Default Compaq A-3000 printer copier scanner

My printer works fine and used to scan ok too but now for
some reason it will not scan to the computer at all. It
says its going to into the use folder but a window comes
on that says no dice. I have tried to remove the printer
in my add/remove programs so I could reinstall the disc
but my emachines with windows xp will not let me either
remove program or install my disc again. Please advise
what settings are incorrect I have the scanner protion
set to 1 which should be user folder but it isnt high-
lighted to do it.

Let's try a total uninstall and reinstall of the All in One.

There are three separate steps and all three must be complete for XP to
'see' the new drivers.

Disconnect the printer.

Go into the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs and uninstall any
printer/scanner software that may still be listed as being installed.

Then go to Printers & Faxes and right click and delete your printer. Go to
the Device Manager (right click on My Computer and select Properties. On
the third tab, called Hardware, click on Device Manager, half way down the
page. Look for the line Imaging Devices and doubleclick on the + to expand
the tree. If there are any instances of the scanner there, right click and
uninstall them.

Reboot the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer. Go back to Printers & Faxes
in the Control Panel and from the toolbar, select File, Server Properties.

In the drivers tab, delete all the entries for the printer.

Reboot the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer.

Download a new set of drivers from the printer manufacturer's website at
http://tinyurl.com/8rjj

Follow the instructions at the printer manufacturer's website at
http://tinyurl.com/9lae and only
connect the printer when the software tells you to do so.
