No wizard, no printers

I posted earlier, but don't see it now. System: XP Pro,
AMD 800MHz Duron, 256RAM, 120GB HD, AGP Gforce 64MB
graphics. Problem: Add Printer Wizard does not work.
Printer and Faxes window does not show printers installed
(Lexmark and HP 600).

Would like to remove Lexmark, but can't see it to do so.
Prints fine, but no printer icon shows in task tray. If
printing error occurs, to cancel the job I have to stop
the spooler (right-click My Computer, Manage, Services
and Applications, Service, Stop Spooler).

Have newest patches... er, fixes... updates? for XP.
Still crappola.

Any way to resolve this where I can see installed
printers and run wizard?
