Default PC Fax Receiving with a Brother MFC3320CN

I am having trouble with receiving a fax into the
computer. I can send a fax using the Fax Console but
when I try and receive a fax, it tries to receive it into
the computer and then says "error receiving fax" and
kicks it back out to the fax machine where it is then
printed. I am using Windows XP and when I called
Brother, they said I was just out of luck because Windows
XP interferes with the communication of the Brother and
the computer itself. Can anyone help?
