Changing attributes
Recently I went to do something that I always did with the other versions
of Windows I've used. I was going to edit the volume on the startup wave file. I don't like to be blasted first thing in the morning. I did the reduction in volume but couldn't save it back to the 'media' folder in 'Windows'. Seems that lousy collection of wave files are 'write protected' and it wouldn't let me change that attribute. Can anyone point me in the right direction? |

Changing attributes
You should be able to change the attributes by right clicking the file, goto
properties and make your selection. The file must be UNhidden first. You can also goto a DOS prompt and type attrib/? for further information on how to do it from the DOS prompt. -- Demoman "Cottonmouth" wrote: Recently I went to do something that I always did with the other versions of Windows I've used. On the other note: You can goto your control panel, goto Sounds and Audio
Devices, click the sounds tab at the top, and from here you can disable ALL windows sounds or sdelect the one you are having an issue with and disable that. -- Demoman "Cottonmouth" wrote: Recently I went to do something that I always did with the other versions of Windows I've used. What gave the error message, and what did it say? Seems that lousy collection of wave files are 'write protected' No audio files in my \Media have a 'Read-Only' attribute set. I can easily toggle that attribute. and it wouldn't let me change that attribute. What would not let you change that attribute? How did you try to change that attribute? Did you first tell Windows to use no sound for startup before trying to edit that file? |
