My computer won't let me log in.
So I had some trouble with my Windows XP Toshiba laptop last night, and I
couldn't download Norton, so I downloaded AVG (it's an old computer, and I hadn't used it in a while, and the antivirus software had expired). AVG took a scan and told me I had thirty viruses exact, most of them Trojans and another by Win23 or something like that. I was continuing the scan, waiting for it to finish so I could take care of the viruses, and the computer kicks me out. Now, this morning, when I try to log on it simply logs me off. This computer has been through a lot. I've restored it once before, but I'm not sure where the "Windows XP" CD went. If anyone could point me in the direction of where to buy one, I think I could restore my computer that method. But if anyone knows any better methods, I would love it if you wouldn't minding helping me. Thanks guys! |

When a computer is that severely compromised, you really can't fix it.
You should erase your hard dusk and start over. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Haley wrote: So I had some trouble with my Windows XP Toshiba laptop last night, and I couldn't download Norton, so I downloaded AVG (it's an old computer, and I hadn't used it in a while, and the antivirus software had expired). Hi, Did you tried Safe Mode by Pressing the F8 Key to get to the boot menu options and select Safe Mode, from there you can restore your machine. Or Last Good known Config that worked. If the above didn't help try Dr web live cd and you can restore using this CD and also run a scan. Dr.Web LiveCD (burn the iso on a CD then reboot, please read instructions): http://www.freedrweb.com/livecd Malwarebytes© Corporation - Anti-Malware http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam/program/mbam-setup.exe As Leo said if that too much for you, it is time to call the Prof to repair it for you or may be it is time for a new Laptop!
