Dotted Line Box
Hello, I recently downloaded IE8, and now when I select an item with my mouse
the item I click on has a dotted line around it I run Windows XP Pro, I use it for games and some work...I will give an example... I enjoy cryptograms and on the site when I click "play" it gets surrounded by a dotted line box, actually any menu item or prompt gets surrounded by a dotted line box...its annoying. How can I make this box disappear? I googled it and was told the following: Hit View, Hide Boundaries Guide I have no clue as to what that means. Any help would be appreciated..Thanks |

Any help would be appreciated..Thanks Maybe not help, but possible explain... I went to www.cryptograms.org and see the play faq scores at the top. When I click on play, or faq, or scores, it does indeed put a dotted box around the word (play, faq, scores) until the selected page loads. I tried IE7 and Firefox and got the same results. A little reading leads me to believe this effect is called a "selection rectangle" and comes about not because of anything in your browser that you can set or change, but the manner in which the author of the WWW page decided to write the code. There are actually several ways to implement selection rectangles. Some people think it is cool and like it, and some people don't. I would say you fall into the latter category! A lot of times when you have a link to another page, it will show up underlined or change to underlined when you mouse over it - or do something to let you know it is a link. On cryptograms.org, they chose to do neither of those two and went with the selection rectangle for their other links. I tried some other pages and did not see it, so I will say it is THAT page. My big assumption is that you are going to cryptograms.org... If not, where are you going? But now that you know what it might be, it may make sense. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. |
