Default How remove unwanted Toolbat in Taskbar?

Recently for some obscure reason, on starting up Windows XP, the language
toolbar appears in the taskbar. Right-clicking on the taskbar, selecting
Toolbars and unchecking the Language bar removes it, but it reappears when I
next start up.
How, please, can I stop it reappearing?
Thanks in anticipation.

How many languages installed?

Unlock the taskbar and then attempt to "hide" the Language bar.

If this does not work, in Control Panel -- Region and Languages
Options -- Text services and input languages -- Language Bar --
Uncheck the option: Show the language bar on the Desktop...

The date and time was Monday, August 24, 2009 9:43:35 AM , and on a
whim, Bagwash pounded out on the keyboard:

toolbar appears in the taskbar. Right-clicking on the taskbar, selecting
Toolbars and unchecking the Language bar removes it, but it reappears when I

Click on the down arrow for the toolbar and select Settings. Then click
the Language bar button and uncheck "Show the language bar on the desktop".

To turn this off with the Control Panel set to classic view click on
Start - Control Panel - Regional and Language Options - Languages Tab.
Now skip the next paragraph....

If your control panel is set for category view click on Start - Control
Panel - Date, Time, and Regional Options - Regional and Language Options
- Languages tab. Now continue on with the next paragraph.

At the top you'll see "Text services and input languages" click on the
"Details" button there. On the next window click on the 'Settings' tab
if you're not already there and towards the bottom you'll see a button
labeled 'Language Bar' click on it to open the 'Language Bar Settings'
window. Clear the check mark next to the line that says 'Show the
language bar on the desktop'. Then click on ok all the way back to the
control panel, then close the control panel and your done.

Done! Many thanks to all who responded.

FYI following this procedure through, I discover that my PC had set itself
to offer Russian as an alternative to English. Now we do just happen to have
had a Russian-speaking visitor staying with us ...
