I use Windows XP,Home Edition,Service Pack 3,IE 8
I am confused about the programs that start up with windows..Please,someone tell me the correct address to input so I can locate these programs..There seems to be more than one start up and start menu..I have a program from PC world which will delay programs that I don't necessarily feel I need at start up time..I believe a lot of programs are trying to start at one time...The blinking light on my Emachine blinks like mad for a long time and my computer takes a good hour or so where I freely search surf the web..Thank you...Nick |

How much RAM do you have? Are you absolutely sure you are free of malware? |

That shows you all that will start when you boot your PC. Uncheck the items you don't want. Just be careful that you don't uncheck important things like 3rd party firewalls or anti-virus if you need these things. -- The Zero ST |

Just be aware that some applications will simply re-start those unchecked
programs upon next bootup. Best to check each application's start preferences and make sure they are set properly. i.e. don't start automatically. As well as using "Msconfig.exe" also, try using AutoRuns.exe available [free] from
Sysinternals (Microsoft) by clicking on the link below : http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/Autoruns.zip == Cheers, Tim Meddick, Peckham, London. :-) "NICK MEALE" wrote in message ...
