Default Internet window question

I have several icons on my desk top that go to different web based programs.
It use to be when I clicked on one of the icons it opened up in its own
window. Now when I click on one icon after I have the first one open it opens
up in the same window. IS there a setting that will open all internet in a
new window each time.

Yes there is a solution to your problem. To fix it click on Start -
Control Panel - Internet Options. If your control panel is set to show
categories then click on Network and Internet Connections, then click on
Internet Options. Once in the internet options click on the General Tab
if you're not already there, then click on the settings button in the
Tabs area (towards the bottom of the window). Then towards the bottom
of the Tabbed Browsing Window look for "Open links from other programs
in:" and there you'll have 3 options to either open in new window, open
in new tab of the current window, or open in current tab or window.
(This is assuming you have IE8 installed...should be the same or very
close for IE7)

I don't recall IE6 having that option and I suggest for security
reasons you upgrade to IE8.
You can try a post to the IE6 group while I fire up an old machine
with IE6.

The closest I see in IE6 is Tools-Internet Options-Advanced.
In the Browsing section, uncheck "Reuse windows when launching
shortcuts".

Perhaps you should try altering the properties of the shortcuts to
start IE in a separate process each time?
