Default net send error 2237

Hi,

In the domain network of our work some users cant receive a net send
message. Sender receive the error 2273.
We use the net send with username instead of computername or IP
because we need to do it.

We solve some cases changing the logon name of these users on active
directory, but I dont think this is a good solution.

The computers are Windows XP Pro SP3 with Messenger service running.

Suggestions are welcome

Thanks, regards.

Windows Messaging service ( "Messenger" ) is diabled in Win XP SP2 and
above. It depends upon NetBIOS names and is extremely limited is scope.
I suggest you switch to an Instant Messenger package. For
Corporate/Enterprise I suggest Lotus SameTime.

Hi David,

Thanks for reply.

The correct error number es 2273.

The service is always running, with automatic start.

The problem is he http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb490707.aspx

It says when you log in your username adds to "net name" alias list for messaging, but I have many users that login to domain controller but her username isnīt added to "net name" alias list. Then, they cant receive messages and sender gets the error.

Thanks, regards.

It is a worthless system. Turn-off the service on each PC and use a corporate IM
software.
