Default Can't open an email account

Some time ago Microsoft changed Windows Live Mail 2012 but as I was using
WLM 2011 I ignored the change.

Some time later I couldn't use my Hotmail account. I guess because of the
WLM 2012 change.

I opened an Outlook account and started to BCC the new address to my
contacts. Several times during this exercise I received a message from
Microsoft to the effect that unusual activity had been noted on my account.
It was then that I found that all of my contacts had been deleted and I
could not send or receive emails from that account. I also received the
following error message:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Outlook (account name) account.

Server error 4102
https;//mail.services.live.com/Delta Sync-V2.0.0/Sync.ASPX"
Windows live mail error 0x8DE00001

Thinking that Microsoft had monitored my email account and had decided that
I was a spammer I opened another account but again could not send or receive
emails and received the same error message.

I am using a Medion computer with Windows 7 home premium Ver 6.1 (build
7601: service pack 1).

How does MS know this computer might be spamming regardless of the account
name being used. Is it to do with the activation number? If so how do I
fix this without having to use/buy another computer?

They don't. But if you do have spam malware it
will use your new account. On the other hand, you
seem to have no evidence that's the case. Your
addresses were deleted. Your email is not working.
The server error and Windows Live Mail error are
of little value. 4102 is not an email server error.
It sounds like some kind of hokey nonsense that
Microsoft made up. SMTP server errors (outgoing
mail errors) are in the hundreds.

If it were me the first thing I'd do is to stop using
WLM. Next I'd dump any email address associated
with Microsoft and use real email. (Your ISP probably
provides real email accounts, as opposed to freebie,
spyware/adware webmail.)

Whatever you do, it sounds like you need someone
with computer expertise to check your computer. It
won't work to just diagnose the problem willy nilly every
time you have trouble with your email and then open
another email account.

You are loaded with maleware beyond repair.
1. Format
2. trash the computer (gun range), take a safe computing class.
3. buy a new one.

That's OK.

Some time later I couldn't use my Hotmail account. I guess because of
the WLM 2012 change.

Wrong guess.

I opened an Outlook account and started to BCC the new address to my
contacts.

I presume you are saying that you mass mailed your contacts your new
address by putting numerous contact addresses into the BCC.

Several times during this exercise I received a message from
Microsoft to the effect that unusual activity had been noted on my
account.

Do you mean old Hotmail account or new Outlook account?

It was then that I found that all of my contacts had been
deleted and I could not send or receive emails from that account. I
also received the following error message:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Outlook (account name) account.

Server error 4102
https;//mail.services.live.com/Delta Sync-V2.0.0/Sync.ASPX"
Windows live mail error 0x8DE00001

Reports of that error message in MS help advise to remove and then
replace the same account in WLM.

Thinking that Microsoft had monitored my email account and had decided
that I was a spammer I opened another account but again could not send
or receive emails and received the same error message.

It is possible for an account to be insecure and to be used for spamming
and to be inactivated, but that condition has not been ascertained. You
have drawn conclusions not based on evidence.

I am using a Medion computer with Windows 7 home premium Ver 6.1 (build
7601: service pack 1).

It is not necessary for your computer per se to be a spam generator for
a/your mail account to be used as a spam generator. Also, neither of
those conditions have been established here.

It is also not established whether your computer is or is not infested
with malware.

The best way to verify a Email account is working properly after having
problems with some form of Email program is to skip that program all
together.

That's right, start your browser of choice and try logging into your
Email account using the browser.

For a Hotmail account you would go to www.hotmail.com and answer the
login questions about your Account name, be it something like gordon, or
, or what ever name you used to create the account.

For Outlook you would go to
www.outlook.com and click on either of the
two Sign in buttons or options. Like hotmail you would answer the
account name question followed by the password.

If your email account at either of the above works properly using just
your browser then and only then would you proceed to troubleshoot the
interaction with your other Email program and the email server, be it
Live Mail, Thunderbird, or some other Email program.

Until you actually do this and report back with the results people here
are just guessing at the problem as it could be your Email program OR
the Email server that is the problem. With some Email servers making
security changes from time to time it could be something as simple as a
port number changing, authentication now being required, a change in the
type of authentication, or any of the other myriad of variables possible
between an Email program and server.

In your case you might try this on your current Email account as well as
your older accounts as I expect they are still open waiting for you to
interact with them properly. One might need to use the "I forgot my
password" or "I forgot my user name" option on the older ones but then
again I basically have a faulty memory. Main reason I use the program
Password Safe to keep track of those pesky Usernames and Passwords.
Especially since I have acquired well over 12 Email accounts over the
years on various servers all of which are still active and receiving
Spam if nothing else. It is one reason I use Thunderbird to collect the
email from all of my accounts in one swoop rather than do it manually
using the Browser method.

but none of them turned up anything. Google seems to suggest problems with
system files and after reading below and the advice from Mike Easter I'm
seeing this is all way above my understanding and I think I should take
Mayayana's advice and call in a local computer man to take over. So thank
you everyone for taking the time to help me out and when this is resolved

the computer to the "gun range"(;-)

OK, just found the following link which seems to explain that Hotmail,
Live.com, and outlook.com are no longer compatible with Live Mail 2012
due to changes in the security protocols used on those servers.

https://support.office.com/en-us/art...a-f8ec74f8e8fd

It appears that Microsoft has left Live mail 2012 in the dust and no
longer wants to support or keep it upgraded. So basically you need to
upgrade to a more modern Email program or use one of the other methods
mentioned in the above link.

If you have an Outlook.com, Live.com, Hotmail.com, or MSn.com account in WLM you can no longer use the DeltaSync server in WLM.
- you must add the account anew and choose the POP3 or IMAP option.

All Outlook.com type accounts(those noted above) were migrated to the new backend Office 365 Exchange Server which no longer
supports the DeltaSync(http) protocol.

Here are the IMAP and POP3 settings for all Outlook.com type
accounts(Outlook/Live/Hotmail/Msn.com)

Note: POP access is disabled by default for Outlook.com type accounts.
To enable POP access,it is necessary to enable POP3 access in each
accounts settings in the Outlook.com web UI.

IMAP server name imap-mail.outlook.com
IMAP port 993
IMAP encryption method SSL

POP server name pop-mail.outlook.com
POP port 995
POP encryption method SSL

Outgoing server for POP3 and IMAP
SMTP server name smtp-mail.outlook.com
SMTP port 587
SMTP encryption method TLS(or SSL if TLS is not available in the email

Thank you again winston for all your help but I still haven't succeeded.
The good news is I have a highly recommended repair man coming on Tuesday so
I'll dump all this in his lap. Hopefully I'll learn something.

Thanks again
