Especially a non-neighborhood burglar that wouldn't even know a WiFi signal is missing. He wouldn't think of doing that, and he probably wouldn't know how to find out. Course I suppose some technical savvy neighbors might notice. They wouldn't recognize the name as being from my house. The name was chosen to make that hard to guess. How well do you trust your neighbors? Some neighbors are friends who I know and trust. Others I don't know at all. So I don't want to trust them as a group. Or your neighbors kids... 8-O If anyone were to try to do this, it would only be a burglar very skilled technically, and probably only one that operated in expensive neighborhoods. If this is a targeted burglary then there are many other easier ways to determine if the residence is occupied than to monitor the WiFi. Of course. Ringing the doorbell is one of them. |

Why do folk's need to turn their WiFi off when leaving anyway? Save a few cents in electricity?? How well do you trust your neighbors? Some neighbors are friends who I know and trust. Bad idea these days. You'll get your picture taken (doorbell camera). Don't know if the Nextdoor app/site works in your area but folks in mine are posting pictures of suspicious ringers all the time. Recently one guy had a ring and run. He posted the photo and the parents saw it and made the kid come over and apologize. |
