usb 2/3 power question

Oh brother. I showed him in his manual. post a link to the manual where it said not to charge an ipod from a computer. https://support.apple.com/en_US/manuals/ipod It was years ago. Where in the hell am I going to find old manuals. in the link above. find the appropriate model and download the manual, then find the relevant text and post its page number and/or screenshot it. You either believe me or you do not. i do not. whatever it said isn't what you think it said. the *only* thing i can think of is that you had a 3rd gen ipod, which could not charge via usb at all. charging required firewire, which is why there was a hybrid firewire/usb cable, with firewire for charging and usb for syncing. earlier ipods were firewire only and later ipods did not need the special cable and charged and synced without issue from a computer. |

Thank you for helping me update my kill file. no, you don't get it. i gave you the links to all of the ipod user manuals, where you could easily find the relevant info to back up what is clearly a bogus claim. you chose not to and resorted to ad hominem attacks. there is *no* issue with charging an ipod from a computer. they were designed to do that. |
