Default Getting back Settings after reinstall

I had to reinstall windows xp Pro over my old one because
of some errors i was getting, but I forgot to get some
old files out of my user folder in the Documents and
Settings folder. The folder is still there, but I can't
gain access to it. I remember my password, but whatever
i try, i can't get it to let me access that folder. Does
anyone know how I can get to it.

As long as the files weren't encrypted, you can regain access to the
folders and files by taking ownership:
