Default Win98 2 XP kills printers

I upgraded several workstations from W98 to XP and now the
network printers will not print. The printers show up as
a "local port" and when I delete them they reappear upon
reboot. I can add "new" network printers, but can't get
the current printers to work. Any ideas?

network printer as a local port!!!! Thank you!
