windows xp installation HELP!

Default windows xp installation HELP!

i have a problem installing win xp pro/home/win 2000.
when i attempt to clean install, it freezes on the 2nd
blue screen, after detectin RAID. It says wait for setup
then freezes. I loaded smartdrv.exe. When i attempt to
upg from 98, the same issue happens. Win 2k freezes
at 'detecting hardware'

my system specs:
2000+ athlon xp w/ ECS k7s5a pro motherboard that has
integrated sound/lan
asylum nvdia geforce 4 fx 5200
diamond supramax 56k modem
Western digital 80 gig hd
BTC 52x burner
zip 100 drive and a floppy

if u can help me please do.

If it freezes trying to load 3 different operating systems, then it's likely
there's a hardware issue. I'd suggest stripping the system down to the bare
minimum you need to run, try to install, and if it still doesn't work, you
can start swapping out required components.

Default windows xp installation HELP!

Hardware and/or memory trouble. Remove all of the adapter cards from the
machine and disable the LAN and sound in the bios. Set the bios to the
default setting and make sure Plug and Play Os is disable in the bios. If
you have more then one memory stick just use one. If this doesn't work go
one step further and do not add the zip drive and burner until later on.

When windows XP is installed then add and enable one thing at a time.

By looking at your setup you must note that XP and NVIDIA have problems
together. XP is also a stickler for good quality ram and AMD's need at least
a 400W power supply with good case cooling.
