Default XP pro Client cannot see Windows 2003 Domain Controler

I have a XP pro client, that I am trying to connecto to a
new Win 2003 Domain Controler. The Client is unable to
ping the server. However the Domain controler is able to
ping the XP pro client. Can anyone help?

Have you registered the XP pro client pc on the server?
Can other machines ping the server? Firewalls can be set not to reply to
pings.
