Cant get rid of firewall off warning
Greetings,
After installing SP2 to a win xp professional machine I receive a popup from the OS that the firewall is off when booting up the OS I am running a 3rd party firewall (which the OS does not detect obviously) and have checked the "I have a firewall solution that I'll monitor myself" option in the security center firewall recommendation dialog box. The 'lack of a firewall' warning pops up again after a few boots, and when I return to the check box to turn off the warnings, it is 'unchecked' again. Any ideas as to how to make the setting stick? The system is perfectly stable in all regards otherwise. Steve |

Cant get rid of firewall off warning
Open your Control Panel, then double-click the Security Center icon.
In the left side, click on the link titled: "Change the way Security Center alerts me". Next, uncheck the Firewall Alert Setting, then click OK. Cant get rid of firewall off warning
I had the same problem and using Carey's solution didn't work at first. I
have three family members with log-in rights. One of them also has admin rights. Only after all the users with admin rights had logged on and unchecked the Firewall Alert Setting did the warning go away. wrote in message ... Thank you! I was starting to go nuts here....
