CPU Fan Turning Off
My CPU fan turns off when I turn my computer on. If I reset computer
everything is fine. Does this everytime. I have tried all the bios stuff and reinstalling XP. I think Motherboard but not sure. System is AMD Athalon 64, K8Ns Pro Motherboard, LG DVD Writer (which does not work right either. Not sure if connected to problem) Games run great and no problem watching DVDs or anything. My system does not overheat, or crash unexpectedly (once i a while) so the only real problem is the cpu fan turning off at start. Wierd.... Would love any thoughts |

CPU Fan Turning Off
This is a long shot, but you might check to see if the
wires from the fan are connected firmly to the fan header on the motherboard... and if it is connected correctly, see if you can connect it to MAYBE the power supply fan header if its long enough, for testing, but I doubt it. All depends on the motherboard location of the power supply header, if it has one. Last resort is to buy another fan and install it. After that I don't know. Almost sounds like a APM (Advanced Power Management) feature/problem. When you say it crashes once in a while? How often is that? Once a month? Once a week? You might even look at a good power supply as a VERY last resort... like Antec 350 or greater. -----Original Message----- My CPU fan turns off when I turn my computer on. CPU Fan Turning Off
If the fan does spin up in some time after a cold boot, this must be the
BIOS feature which waits until your AMD CPU temperature would reach some threshold. Power-on spin-up and -down is a circuitry check. |
