Question About Serial Numbers

Hi,

I am installing Windows XP on a friends computer. They have so much crap on it and it's so slow, basically they want to wipe the whole thing and start again.

Their serial number is on the side of their machine but they do not have a Windows XP CD.

Question:

Will MY Windows XP CD work with THEIR serial number or is every copy of Windows XP specific to one serial number?

Any help appreciated.

Check the user manual that came with their computer, it will tell you =
how to use the hidden recovery partition to restore their computer to =
its out of box state. Depending how you acquired your copy of XP it =
may or may not work. Plus, you may not have proprietary drivers that an =
OEM computer may have.
