Windows Could, But Cannot Hibernate
I got a second hand laptop infected with loads of awful stuff, and
filled with junk the previous owner had... It had 60 GB but he even messed that up, so now it only has 32 GB of HD. I got annoyed so i just reinstalled EVERYTHING (Actually i just formatted HD and installed windows) and now, for some reason, the HIBERNATE and STANDBY buttons are missing, and no, there is no general tab in my power options... Also, the display driver installer that came with the laptop got formatted, and now the screen is too big for the display... I have a SONY VAIO, about 500 MB RAM, 32GB internal HD and 153 EXTERNAL free space... I also have a useless sticker that says "Graphics By ATI (logo goes here)" and when the graphics actually were by ATI, Hibernate and standby worked fine... Oh yeah, I have a: Windows XP SP2 Proffesional, with about 2 programs installed... so i don't suppose it's the programs... Now do i need a new driver or what? |

Windows Could, But Cannot Hibernate
wrote in message oups.com... Standby and Hibernate ONLY work if windows has the proper hardware drivers to make it work. If your install of Windows is fresh, you need to install all the proper hardware drivers, and run Windows Update to get Hibernation and Standby to run.
