Default DVD Burners Not Working

Recently, both of my DVD burners in my computer running Windows XP Home
stopped burning DVDs. However, the drives still read and burn CDs, and will
play DVDs. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

How and which software were you using to burn DVDs? XP does not burn DVDs
directly without software like Roxio or Nero.

it is possible for the laser that burns the DVD portion to stop working, and
the CD portion to keep on working, how old are the drives?
