Default computer fan

when my computer fan runs it freeze's up and i can't do anything. what is the
problem?

The fan didn't turn on BEFORE the system over heated? The power supply
is weak and the fan draws to much power? You have a hardware problem
that isn't Windows XP related.

Replace the fan as soon as possible. The computer is overheating and
overheating can cause terminal damage.

No one knows your problem unless you can provide more details. It is likely
a bad fan, bad motherboard, or bad power supply.
Are you talking about a fan on the motherboard? a fan in the back of the
case?

Implying that the fan may not run, therefore, not freeze up the PC?

Believe you're talking about constant hard drive access instead.
