Default Intelimouse 5.4

I installed the Intelimouse 5.4 (laser) yesterday. Then I had trouble
surfing the net so I did a restore and that took me back to my old Logitech
mouse. So I tried to reinstall the 5.4; but I get " detects conflicting
software and do you want to replace it". When I hit ok I get a "Installation
support file could not be installed. The system cannot find the specified
file" Can anyone offer some help?
