Wow! The funny part is, in more then one case (link) adam albright was
right there with him. This is finally starting to make sense! (to me anyway) Thanks winston! "...winston" wrote in message ... You don't need to spend the money to build a 2009 machine : long before 2009. Upgrade and spend as you need to. : Don't feed the trolls. http://groups.google.com/groups/sear...+spencer+hines |

RAM For Vista & Vienna -- "Upgrading" From XP

wrote: "Generally speaking" statements are generally meaningless. How much RAM you need for good performance with Windows Vista, depends, just as it did with Windows XP, on what apps you are running. Not everyone needs 2GB by a long shot. Bull****.......90% of the PC purchasers need guidelines aka "generally speaking" dumbass. My experience has been that our office machines running primarily office 2007 apps saw a big speed improvement and less hang ups when going from 1gb to 2gb of RAM. Sure you can run Vista on 1gb, just don't open too many windows or plan on waiting awhile. |

RAM For Vista & Vienna -- "Upgrading" From XP
How do you define "Any serious user"?
Convenient for you how you use this vague term. Why is it necessary to have the memory now that MAY be needed in the future "for future developments over the life of the computer" What is wrong with waiting until the need is nearer rather than spending now only to possibly replace the computer before the actual need arises? "ignorant and stupid person" Interesting your need to stereotype those with a different opinion than yours. As is obvious by other posts less than 2 GB is sufficient for some. One size fits all is usually wrong since it ignores the requirements of many. Your post clearly fits. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "D. Spencer Hines" wrote in message ... Any serious user should realize he needs TWO GB of RAM in order to run Vista and have room for future developments over the life of the computer. Only a rather ignorant and stupid person would buy a box with less than TWO GB of RAM. It's rather shameful how some of the more knowledgeable people here are buying TWO Gigs of RAM for THEMSELVES -- while recommending ONE Gig as sufficient for the needs of others. I personally plan to have FOUR Gigs of RAM, at a minimum -- when I buy Vienna. DSH Lux et Veritas et Libertas Deus Vult |

RAM For Vista & Vienna -- "Upgrading" From XP
Any serious user should realize he needs TWO GB of RAM in order to run VISTA
and have room for future developments over the life of the computer. Only a rather ignorant and stupid person would buy a box with less than TWO GB of RAM and expect to use VISTA on it over the next three years. If one only has two RAM slots and they are filled with 512 MB RAM modules it is going to mean they will be discarded in order to go to 2 GB or 4 GB of RAM in the future, as requirements increase and limitations bind. It's rather shameful how some of the more knowledgeable people here are buying TWO Gigs of RAM for THEMSELVES -- while recommending ONE Gig as sufficient for the needs of other allegedly "less sophisticated" users with "fewer needs" who "only surf the Web and read/send emails." Hilarious! In fact it is a disingenuous, duplicitous scam on their part. I personally plan to have FOUR Gigs of RAM, at a minimum -- when/if I buy VIENNA. 'Nuff Said. I prefer to totally ignore the drivel you post since you have demonstrated over and over you don't have a clue. Enough said. |
