Default Printer Offline Revisited

Thanks for your help. I have followed your instructions on completely removing drivers, etc.; but the message Printer Offline/Unknown Toner Level appears whenever I try to print, even if I have clicked "Printer Online" and the printer is listed as "Ready". I suspect the problem arises from Dell's software that ensures one only buys replacement cartridges from Dell. In this case, the old cartridge (which still has plenty of toner), a new unauthorized one, and a new Dell one all fail to print--except that the unauthorized one prints test pages when activated by a button on the printer. I would appreciate any further suggestions.

Although you think you're posting to EggHeadCafe, you are actually posting
on the Microsoft Newsgroups for Printing and Fax for XP..... as such, we
have no idea to which other instructions you are referring or to what you
original problem is/was.
