I don't believe so. MS Works programs tend to be impossible to open in
anything except Works. If you want to share documents with other people,
try saving them in .rtf (Rich Text Format) instead. Or, if you don't
want to purchase MS Word (expensive), you could download and install
OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org. OpenOffice is a free office suite
that includes a word processor and spreadsheet. OpenOffice can Save As
MS Word and Excel formats.

For more specific answers about MS Works, post in the Works newsgroup:

microsoft.public.works.win

First...
All Upper Case posting...
http://www.wisegeek.com/why-should-i...line-forms.htm

Now...
Yes and no - depends if they have Microsoft Office (particularly MS Word) as
well...

How to open a Works 6.0, a Works 7.0, a Works 8.0, or a Works 9.0 word
processing document in Word
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315757

If Works 6.0, Works 7.0, Works 8.0, or Works 9.0 is not installed on same
computer as Word, you must install the Works 6.0 Converter on the computer
on which Word is installed.

To do this, follow these steps:
1. In your Web browser, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2002/wp6rtf.aspx
2. Read the information about the Works 6.0 Converter, and then click
Download Now.
3. In the File Download dialog box, click Open. The Wp6rtf.exe file is now
downloaded to your computer.
4. Click Yes to the following message:
Are you sure you want to install the Works 6.0 converter?
5. Click Yes to accept the Microsoft License Agreement. If you click No, the
Works 6.0 Converter Setup ends, and the Works 6.0 Converter is not installed
on your computer.
6. The Works 6.0 Converter Setup now extracts and installs the Works 6.0
Converter (Works632.cnv) on your computer.

To open a Works 6.0, Works 7.0, Works 8.0, or Works 9.0 word processing
document in Word, follow these steps:
1. Start Word.
2. On the File menu, click Open.
3. In the Open dialog box, follow these steps:
a. Change the Look in box to the location of your Works word processing
document.
b. In the Files of type box, click the version of Works that you are
running.
Note If you are using Microsoft Word 2007, click All Files (*.*).
c. Select the Works word processing document (.wps) that you want to open,
and then click Open.

Here is information about how to use these newsgroups. The correct
newsgroup for Works is microsoft.public.works.win.

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (Vista) since you
already have it. Here are some links to information about newsgroups:
