Default System Restore problem

In XP Pro SP2, I've tried to run System Restore Wizard and get a message "
System Restore Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for inconvenience", and then the chance to send the error report
to Microsoft.
Is it poss. that something in XP is corrupted? If so, how should I fix it?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
John

Default System Restore problem

Bert,
None of these suggestions worked. Would I be better to reinstall, or
repair, XP do you think?

Default System Restore problem

What are your anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall arrangements? What
volumes do you have and which are System Restore monitoring? Any
removable drives?

Hope this helps.

Default System Restore problem

I've tried again, and been more careful, and switched off and restarted.
All is now well. I think I did a "restart" last time instead of switching
off completely.
Thanks.

Check the Event Viewer for any "sr" and "srservice" errors that may exist
and post them here.
