Default Networking Xp Home & XP Pro

OK I have a desktop (host \\PC1) running XP Pro this has my internet access
(LAN).
I have connected through a router a laptop running XP Home.

I can access the internet on the laptop through the desktop. I can access
the shared folders on the laptop from the desktop.
But cannot access the shared folders on the desktop from the laptop, I can
see the 2 computers on the network, but comes up with "\\PC1 is not
accessible, you might not have permission to use this network resource.
Access is denied"

It used to work until I had to format the desktop, and i decided to use NTFS
file system on it, the laptop is still on FAT system???

I can ping from both computers and it works.

I can also print from the laptop to the printer connected to the desktop?

Running out of ideas, I have tried re-installing everything. but to no avail.

Help please.

Thanks

Steve
