It's a known problem with update 810847; That update installs MSHTML.dll
v1141 which is apparently causing the crashes in Outlook Express.
MS are aware of it and are investigating what the cause is.

Read the thread/subject:
February 2003, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer (810847) in the
Outlook Express newsgroup

Also read the "!Heads up" thread in the windows update newsgroup....

In the mean time a work-around to try is to restore or revert back to
MSHTML.dll v1126.
I reverted back to MSHTML.dll v1126 and haven't had any crashes since.

To revert back to v1126, search for all copies of the MSHTML.dll file on
your computer, find v1126 and copy it your system or system32 folder, so
it overwrites the later version (v1141) that this update installed.

Note you cant be running Outlook Express or Internet Explorer when doing
this as they both use that dll file.
As always create a restore point or do a backup *BEFORE* applying
'workarounds' like this.....

FIX (for OE running on XP)
Do a search for MSHTML.dll on your computer, you will find several
copies in various directories. Highlight any copy of the file, (when
found) right click, select properties and check the version.

When you find v1126 just copy it to your windows/system32 folder and
click OK when it warns about overwriting the MSHTML.dll file already
there....

When you have done that:
Restart Outlook Express, select help, about and scroll down to verify
that OE is using MSHTML.dll v1126

END PASTE

For the last couple weeks or months I am dealing with a big
problem with all computers I use - on every pc Outlook Express
crashes frequently when I compose message. I am just typing
the text, pressing ENTER and bam! Crashed again! Lost the
message, have to restart the program. What is going on? Is that
some patch I have installed from Microsoft? How to fix my problem?

Two of three computers I mentioned have Windows XP, one is
Windows NT 4.0. All three are frequently checked & upgraded
on windowsupdate.microsoft.com. All critical updates installed.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thank you.
