Forget about the Window$ diagnostics. Can those two Win 8.1 computers
ping 8.8.8.8?

Maybe those 2 Win 8.1 computers are too far away from the wireless
router... maybe the wall blocked the wireless signals. Ping the IP
address of the `wireless router first (e.g. 192.168.1.1), then 8.8.8.8
for internet.

Help !

// \\

Cable ----------- DOCSIS ------// \\_ Win7
(triple play) Modem/Router

//
\\__Win8.1

So one machine has working DNS and the other one doesn't.

Command Prompt for each

nslookup www.sun.com # queries DNS

ping 156.151.59.35 # proves network connection

ping www.sun.com # fails with no DNS

On the broken machine, this will open a web page.
The Oracle/Sun web page should appear. This proves
the plumbing works.

http://156.151.59.35

If this in turn does not work, then the DNS isn't
set up. The default Windows setting is to get the
DNS server address from the router via DHCP, but
this can be adjusted/disturbed in a networking panel.

Paul
