Default XP Home to Pro??

Hello! I hate to be stupid, but I need to ask this. What do you have to do
to upgrade Windows XP Home to Windows XP Professional? Is the Win XP Pro
upgrade the one I want, or is that one just if you are updating from an
earlier Windows version? Thanks!

You can use the upgrade version of Pro to upgrade to Home, as well.
However, if you intend to do a clean installation, you'll need to have a
retail version, not an OEM "recovery" version of XP Home for proof of
eligibility.

Sorry, but I don't understand. I have XP Home now. I want to upgrade to XP
Pro. Do I have to buy the Win Pro upgrade package which is supposed to
upgrade from ME, 2000, and 98, or is there a simpler upgrade since I already
have XP? Thanks!

No, there is no simpler upgrade. You will have to purchase XP Pro, but you
don't need the full version, the Upgrade version (works on XP Home as well),
will do.

Yes.

It works for either purpose.

Are you sure you need to do this? Are you aware that XP Home and
Professional are identical except that Professional includes a
few features (mostly related to security and networking) missing
from Home? Most home users don't need and would never use these
extra features and will see no benefits by upgrading.
