Default Why's this happening?

Check your settings under: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
or:

Another checkpoint: In the right pane, check your settings under "Load":
Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
or:

Start Run msconfig startup

This is most likely caused by incorrect Userinit value (duplicated). On a
test system, after installing SP2, the userinit value was duplicated
(appending to the existing data)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system 32\userinit.exe,

RESOLUTION:
From previous newsgroup post by Doug Knox - MVP:

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Look in the right pane for a value called Userinit. Its value should read:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,

Including the trailing comma. If it reads anything else, double click
the Userinit value and change it. This assumes that XP is installed on
C:\Windows. If not, adjust the command line accordingly.

Hi Group,
just recently whenever I start my PC just as XP
finishes booting and all the other applications are up and running I
get a window open up showing the contents (as in my computer) of the
C:\ drive.

I have no idea why it has started doing this and cannot find out how
to prevent it from continuing. It's a petty annoyance, but can anyone
give me any indications on how to stop it please?

Many thanks

PLM
