explorer and Setup
Windows explorer keeps crashing.
Also cannot load XP service pack; says I have 3rd party kernel running therefore unable to install?!

Can you give the complete *verbatim* text of the message produced when you try to install XP Service Pack 1? And if the error message is from Service Pack 2 rather than Service Pack 1 then remember that Service Pack 2 is still undergoing beta testing, and the meaning of "beta version" is "too full of bugs to be released".
