Computer does not recognize printer attached to another computer

In trying to setup a printer on MOM's computer within the workgroup (MSHOME),
the computer does not see the printer that's attached to DAD's computer. The
structure shows this:
- Microsoft Network Group
- DAD
- MOM
I'm expecting to see a printer under DAD that I could use, but there's no
printer name. Could anyone shed some solution?

Are these both Windows XP?

if MOM can see both DAD and MOM in Network Places, you already did the hard
part. The printer should be listed in a Printers and Faxes folder in the DAD
folder. It is not?

On DAD, open Printers and Faxes, right-click on the printer and choose
Properties. What does it say on the Sharing page?

DAD's is running XP Prof, MOM's has XP Home.
DAD's printer sharing is on, has the shared hand. Printer's name=Brother.

There are a few things you can try, which I list in order.

I would proceed as follows. After each change, test it. If it fails, reboot
both machines and test it again. If it still fails, move on to the next
step. If it succeeds, take note of which step fixed it for the benefit of
others that may be in a similar situation.

1. Make sure that sharing is on, on DAD. The easiest way to do this is to
use the Network Connection Wizard in All Programs Accessories
Communication.
2. Make sure that sharing is on, on MOM.
3. You may need to enable the Guest account on DAD, if there are accounts
with no password protection. You can do this using Start Control Panel
User Accounts User Accounts. Was it already enabled or disabled?
4. You may need to enable the Guest account on MOM. Was it already enabled
or disabled?

If it still does not work, which firewall, antivirus or antispyware software
do you have, and do you have any hardware that could be interfering, eg. a
router?

2. I enabled the Guest accounts on both.
3. Still does not work, I have Symantec firewall and antivirus, but the
firewall allows file and print sharing.
4. MOM's computer can see the shared documents on DAD's (but not the
printer), but when I try to open, an error comes up, something to do with
access permission.

Is the Everyone group on the printer security tab? Turn off Simple File
sharing to see this tab on Pro. I do not think this is viewable on Home.
