Any API that can trigger the fax function in XP

I am developing a telephony application using VB. It uses the dialogic
telephony board to cotnrol the telephony function. It accepts the fax
number from the key inputs from the mobile phone. Then, it will
automatically fax the request documents to this fax machine. For this fax
function, I want to use a normal fax modem card. It is much more cheaper
than a fax module in the telephony board. I don't want to develop the fax
function, and want to use the fax feature provided by WinXP. Is there any
API available in XP that can perform this function? Is it possible to do
like this.
