Default Anyone know of a device to share a mouse and keyboard with twocomputers?

Hi All,

Anyone know of a device to share a USB2 mouse and USB2
keyboard with two computers? I do not want to share
the monitor or sound.

I searched for over an hour yesterday and could only
come up with something that would share one of them,
so I had to get two devices. Or, they they were
weird KVM switches.

So, before I buy two, one device switches, I thought
I check with your guys.

Yes, indeed. Just connect one monitor directly to each PC - not through
the switch.

Anyone know of one that uses a mechanical switch (not some
wired keyboard stroke) that is not a cheap pile of junk?

There are lots of them. They don't normally go bad.
We have several on the local servers but I don't know what kind.
They are black... possibly Startech.

Does it have to be hardware? I use Multiplicity, which shares my keyboard
and mouse with my desktop and two laptops. Of course, you have to have
monitors for each to see what's going on, but you mentioned that you don't
need the V part of the KVM, so I'm guessing you have a PC set-up similar to
mine.

Check it out he

No keyboard strokes. Just a button or a switch.

I don't understand. Do you mean keyboard strokes to switch between PCs?
There are none, unless you set it up that way. To change focus, you just
move your mouse from one to the other.

One keyboard and one mouse. I want to share them between two
computers. When I switch computers, I want to push/press/move
something on the sharing device. I do not want a weird keystroke
on my keyboard that does the switching.

What you want is a KVM controllable from the keyboard. I used one
imported from India for years and years until I got fed up of the whole
setup and disconnected all. Very useful if you need such a setup. One
KVM, 1 keyboard, 1 mouse and I could use and control 4 computers.

That is exactly what I stated I did not want. Thanks for
the suggestion anyway.

Me either. I hate to think what I (well, my company) paid for the HP Remote
IP KVM years ago :-(
