Default Windows XP restarts itself when logging off, shutting down or restarting

Hi all,

How can I make Windows XP not restart by itself when logging off, shutting down or restarting?

Expected result: The computer should either log off, shut down or restart.
Actual result: The login screen says "Saving your settings..." and disappears and restarts itself.

Default Windows XP restarts itself when logging off, shutting down or restarting

Hi unknown,

How can I make Windows XP not restart by itself when logging off, shutting
down or restarting?

I threw "XP restarts after shutdown" into google, and got a nice number of
hits. The actual answer ? Solve whatever is crashing the PC (and causes
XP to automatically restart).

Though you can start by telling XP *not* to restart on a crash :

Hi Rudy, Ken et al.

If I log off, shut down or restart computer in 7 am, it does actual results as shown in the first post.

The occasional restart does not happen in 6 am.
