Switch for USB connector
I have problems scanning documents.
To get a scan to work, I have to unplug the usb cable (that goes from desktop to scanner) Then reopen my scanner app and then it scans. I do not know what it would be called, but I could use something that would let me cut the connection between the cable and scanner without actually unplugging it. I am probably to only person who has ever as for this. :-) I am handy with electronics, so maybe there might be a way to cut into the cable and insert some switch? Andy |

Andy Somewhere between 30 and 100 different kinds available on the internet. But if you want a real cheap method just cut the red wire and wire nut it back together when needed. I think I can do a little more professional looking job than using a wire nut. Since the wire gauge is about 22, a switch can be small. Andy |

Andy I think this would work ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Printer-Swi...EAAOSw1uVcAbxI That ought to work. I has two comp inputs sending to one device input. Switch to non-existant comp #2 should work. There may be cheaper ones available, too, but I like the idea of the mechanical switch on the one you found rather than an electronic switch. Hmm... Same one except cheaper: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Port-USB-...75.c100623.m-1 I'll take a month or two to get it from Shenzhen, Guangdong, China though. |

I suppose the real fix would be to find out why the software needs to rediscover the scanner every time. |

Andy,
I do not know what it would be called, but I could use something that would let me cut the connection between the cable and scanner without actually unplugging it. Maybe a program could do the same thing ? https://softwarerecs.stackexchange.c...eset-usb-ports Regards, Rudy Wieser |
