Default takes 120 seconds for the shutdown screen to show up

I have a Lenovo T61 laptop. When I select start-shutdown, it
takes 120 seconds for the shutdown screen to show up. This process
should take one second or less. Any way to fix the problem? Thanks.

Hello John. That greatly depends on the RAM usage at the time of
shutdown and the applications that are running. Try closing all
applications and then try and shutdown the computer. How much time does
it take for the menu to appear. There are plenty of workarounds it from
changing the power profile to creating a shutdown shortcut for bypassing
the glitch. Let me know if you want to go down that way and I will
provide you with further instructions.

I've been using Windows in one version or another for almost 20 years
and have never been able to shut down the computer in one second.
If you find the secret let us all know.

Whoops, sorry, misread your post. The "shutdown screen" does show up in
about one second; shutdown itself takes somewhat longer.
