Use outlook express to read the newsgroups instead of the web page
interface.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...ps/default.asp

Choose: open with news reader link under the appropriate group you want.

Hi

You may be better off using a News Reader instead of the CDO Interface:

Why do I need to sign in to Communities?

It isn't necessary to be signed in to Communities to search for posts,
read posts, expand threads, or show specific threads in discussion groups.
However, there are certain things you can do in discussion groups that
require you to sign in. To add your own post, rate posts, or sign up for
e-mail notifications, you are required to use a .NET Passport to sign in.

Signing in helps ensure that you are who you say you are, and that no one
else can pretend to be you. Because you may build a reputation in the
Community by answering questions accurately, and you build other people’s
reputations when you rate their answer to your question, it is important that
others can trust that you are who you say are each time you participate in
Communities.

I don't use outlook express because i don't like it ... I like the way it was
before where i never needED to sign in into anything , I would simply go to
the Microsoft help and support link which would take me to the newsgroups and
i would have the options which newsgroup i would like to enter and get my
answers from ... this sucks now ... In fact i hate it and i don't care much
for outlook express either , I don't use hotmail but now this is the only way
i can enter the newsgroup .... I am sure others will feel the same way ,
Microsoft has a need to always change things even if things were going good ,
Maybe its now my time to look elsewhere , A non microsoft operating system
.... Thanks MICROSOFT for screwing something that was working

For a better newsgroup experience. Setup a newsreader.

Why do you not like outlook express? I'm just curious, because I have never,
ever, ever, heard anyone say they liked the webpage interface reader better
than a real newsgroup reader, like outlook express or agent or thunderbird.
The cdo is poorly designed. A real newsreader will be easier to use and more
efficient to use as well. You have the right to choose whatever reader you
want, I'm just curious as to why you like the cdo better than OE.

Microsoft made the change because a few folks were abusing
the newsgroups in many ways. I , for one, welcome the added
security and the elimination of bogus posters whose intent was
to disrupt the usefulness of the newsgroups.

Hey Denny ... these option are not available with OE 6 Or at least i
didn't notice them

From OE Tools Options Read . Uncheck the checkbox to download all the
messages in a newsgroup. (recommended, but takes a considerable amount of
time)
From View Current View select Show All Messages.
From ViewSort By select Sent
Use Help for more tips on configuring OE for newsgroups

Use Outlook Express whether you like it or not, or don't use
it, it is your choice. Free country and all that.
