Default Opening folder with many files is slow

I have a folder with 16,000 pictures and html files. When I open it - i see
the flashlight for about 25 seconds. I run a P4 3.6 with 2 gigs ram, a Nv gtx
256 graphic card. Is there anyway other than moving files to more folders to
speed it up?
Thanks,
Pete

The problem may be the Icon Cache size. This website tells how to change the
icon cache size

It says it is for Windows XP Pro, but I have home edition and it worked on
that too.
I set it to 4000 and it made a big difference
Hope this helps

Pete,
I am sure the post by rjdeible must have helped. Just to make things faster
you may want to choose any other option besides the thumbnails one in the
views.

Hope this helps
