And use older versions to escape from ads... I think it's 0.9.6!

The last version that I am using without ads is 1.7.3. This is the
last version before they went to the new interface.

I PDFCreator mainly to create multipage PDF. In my opinion it is much
easier to use for that purpose.

Is this a reasonable place to get PDFCreator version 1.7.1?
https://sourceforge.net/projects/pdf...es/PDFCreator/

Or, here should I get PDFCreator Version 1.7.1 here?
http://jcdiaz.net/jcd-downloads/PDFCreator%201.7.1.htm

This guy recommends "doPDF" instead of PDFCreator because of the adware.

The videos YOU linked to showing how poorly Android handles even part of the
stated task poorly:

https://youtu.be/cywLOctCrCs
https://youtu.be/bYDvgoYSVSU
https://youtu.be/G0sKTWfHHnk

Those videos claim Android handles the task so poorly that to even get the
first line requires extra hardware. You even claimed the list "goes on
forever". Wow... YOU showed Android is far worse at this than I thought!

And now that you get that you are having a very emotional toddler tantrum.
Which I am feeding.

When printing to PDFCreator, in the save dialog you have the ability
to change/delete the Author name.

I always use the original web site for all my downloads when possible,
OR Sourceforge.net

I have started downloading Irfanview from other websites, because when
you go to Irfanview.net to download the program you are directed to
outside sites.

I'm using v. 2.5.24, which has no ads. There is a button
in the top corner to download some other program the
company makes, but it's just a small ad, out of the way,
for their own product. And there's a "search bar" that
provides links to search engines. I just delete all those
and disable online search in the settings.

I don't follow. Are you talking about a Property Page
for PDF in Explorer, that shows with right-click -
Properties? That would be a different thing and would
depend on Windows version and/or installed software.

Harry was asking for something that doesn't automatically
retrieve his username and insert it into the "metadata"
of the file when saving.

No, that doesn't allow editing this metadata that way by default as these are
essentially *Custom* props that used to be available when Windows supported the
NTFS file properties. They are now *Document* properties of whatever software
that creates the file.

Adobe Acrobat and Nuance Power PDF allow you to edit this data via a
*Description* page/tab in their "Properties" dialog. I suspect other PDF
editing software does same! Readers do not! File explorers such as WE and
PowerDesk do not offer a "Custom" page/tab in their "Properties" dialogs.

Harry was asking for something that doesn't automatically

I recall seeing an option to exclude this data, but can't place which software
this was offered by. I would have thought, for example, that the PDF feature in
LibreOffice offered this, or newer versions of MS Office.

Ok, just checked in MSO2010 using SaveAs and selecting PDF as the filetype. It
has an *Options* dialog where you can exclude Document properties by
deselecting the (default) option to "include" them.

Libre Office does not add it. That's what I was
saying. Nor does PDF XChange Viewer. Just about
anything but Adobe products should be clean.

Libre Office doesn't even have such options in the
save dialogue. It can add a password or digital
signature, but not an author name.

Adobe, like MS, have historically pushed their own
formats as a standard for corporate business use --
which is the only place where security restrictions
and personal metadata make sense.

The Print dialogue includes Foxit Printer in its list of printers.
Selecting it creates PDF of the file and immediately displays it. (I
installed Foxit PhantomPDF).

However, any document created with a document creator will by default
list the User as the "owner" the document. It seems OP needs a filter
that will strip that ID from the meta-data. I don't think there's an
easy way to do that, as the number of posts in this thread demonstrate
only too clearly.

The Print dialogue lists all other virtual printers, eg, Microsoft XPS
Document Writer.

The objective of "Print to PostScript", is the output
is human-readable, and using Notepad (or a script),
you can blank out any %% metadata fields you like.
If you see your name in the text anywhere, it's
easy to delete.

Once you've edited the PostScript, you can distill
it with GhostScript.

The idea is to have the print in a textual
representation, making surgery a little easier.

*******

Sometimes, when you open a PDF and then print to PostScript,
your distiller will refuse to distill the PostScript back
into PDF (yes, it's a "laundry procedure"). If this happens,
using Notepad, look for this.

%% Removing the following eleven lines is illegal, subject to the Digital Copyright Act of 1998.

That's the blocker, in plain sight. Once that paragraph is
deleted, the PostScript has a chance of being distilled
again. The printer driver emits that into the output stream,
for you to trip over.

It's nice of them to put targeting sights on that paragraph,
making it easy to locate. I thought it was pretty funny
at the time. That's the "Do Not Distill" blob.

The Adobe/Nuance products I mention are what I use for creating ebooks,
userguides, and instruction manuals. The Nuance product more accurately sets
bookmark destinations and the Nuance PDF Reader more accurately navigates these
than the Adobe-based readers do. This, of course, is controlled by the
"Settings"; -I use Single Continuous and 100% zoom by default with the
Bookmarks navigation panel displayed.

I do too but I couldn't find the suggested older version of PDF Creator on
the official web site.

It was on Sourceforge in source code format only as far as I could tell.

So I was pretty much stuck without a paddle.
