Default User Account settings have resest and windows cant save settings when i shutdown

Hi. I use Windows XP Home edition. When i logged on as my
administrative account, all of my seetings had been reset
including desktop (with around 100 items on it), task
bar, screensaver wallpaper and theme, media player, and
basically all of my settings. When i shutdown or log off
and then log on again, my settings have reset again, it
treats me as if i have never logged in before. When i
tryed logging in as another account i received this
message: "Windows cannot load the user's profile but has
logged you on with the default profile for the system.

DETAIL - Access is denied."

It loads the account, but i get the same problem with
saving and restoring settings.

This is bugging me alot.
The last thing i was doing before all of this was i used
this command "cacls "c:\system volume information" /g
dave:f" so i could delete the lovsan virus amongst that
folder. The very last thing i did was change the amount
of space System Restore used from 6Gb to 2Gb to save me
space. Then i shutdown. Then when i logged on again i had
lost all of my settings. Any help?

If you can log in successfully with another administrator account, take
ownership of the corrupted profile, and reset it to the correct (original)
owner, and then log out. Log back in your old admin profile to see if it comes
up ok.
