Defrag not completeing
My defrag of C drive doesn't go past 3% before ending the program. I've tried
System Restore, Trying it from safe mode, unchecking the start up programs from msconfig, and still get the same results. Any other options? I've also run scandisk for errors. -- milkman |

Hi,
Before running defragmentation, run disk cleaning up to clear all obsolete old files first. You may also need to run CHKDSK /F/R to ensure the Hdds are in good condition. Most important, make sure your C drive has a free space of not less than 15% of free space available for running defrag. -- Peter "milkman2283" wrote: My defrag of C drive doesn't go past 3% before ending the program. I've done that Peter. Is there a file that might be corrupted, and if there
is, can it be retrieved from my set up discs? I'd like to be able to remedy this problem without having to format my drive. -- milkman "Peter" wrote: Hi, Before running defragmentation, run disk cleaning up to clear all obsolete old files first. Hi,
1. Can you run the CHKDSK /F/R without any problem when you scheduled this task on the next reboot of the PC? 2. Are you sure the C drive have more than 15% free space of the total volume? 3. Below is the link for your info in defrag: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_defrag.htm Hope it helps. Peter -- Peter "milkman2283" wrote: I've done that Peter.
