Lightscribe -- Internal Burner question
I'm in the market for a lightscribe CD burner (yeah, DVD burner too I
guess). I've looked at Tiger Direct and Amazon -- seems the internals run about $40-60. Various brands. Sony, HP, LaCie, ASUS, ... This is relatively recent technology, so I'd like some guidance on which brands hold up the best and are the most reliable. Advice please? Pointers for where to shop? Thank you! *rain*drops* |

Google is your friend:
http://www.google.com Type "lightscribe reviews" in the search pane, hit the "Enter" key, read reviews and comparisons to your little heart's content. Steve "*rain*drops*" wrote in message ... Lightscribe -- Internal Burner question
Hmmm. I thought this newsgroup was my friend, too. It seems to have
recently become populated with patronizing little boys, however. -- *rain*drops* "Og" wrote in message ... The reviews for some of those products show 10 to 30 minutes per label (depending on how much contrast between light and dark parts you want). You'd be old and gray before your music or movie collection was properly labeled, at that speed. It takes longer to put the label on, than to burn the disk. There is another technology, thermal transfer labeler for around 100 dollars, but it doesn't make nice labels like Lightscribe. The labels would be barely adequate (the examples showed just text). Back to using my Crayons I guess... Paul |

But since I remember paying $60.00 for a decent CD-ROM reader and $ 250.00 for a speedy 4X CD burner, for $ 40.00 I'll buy a lightscribe burner and burn the occassional lightscribe label. |

Lightscribe -- Internal Burner question
Thanks Paul & Pete, for the input. Since the labels take so long and are of
poor quality, I think I'll wait until the technology has improved. Are paper labels a no-no? I've been using sharpies to write on the labels, but it would be nice to have paper labels. Easier to find the right CD -- *rain*drops* "Pete Stavrakoglou" wrote in message ... "Paul" wrote in message ... Lightscribe -- Internal Burner question
I wouldn't say the labels are of poor quality but they can't come close to
the quality of graphics printed on a label. I've been labeling my CDs with paper labels for years with no problems. For my most important labels, such as the backup disck I burn for my copy of Windows and Office, I use my lightscribe CDs and burn a label onto it. "*rain*drops*" wrote in message ...
