Default Services: IPv6 Internet Connection Firewall

Can anyone tell me what the 'IPv6 Internet Connection
Firewall' service is for as it is set to 'Manual'
operation. Given my curiosity, I requested the
service 'Start' which produced the following error
condition in the event log:

"The IPv6 Internet Connection Firewall service was unable
to find support for IPv6. This may indicate that the
IPv6 protocol suite is not installed or it failed to
start. The data is the error code."

My internet connection has been shared and firewalled and
running fine for the past year. I'm just curious about
the above as I never noticed it before in the listing of
services.

Thanks

Most likely, you installed the Advanced Networking Pack for Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;817778 Don't worry
about.

It is a TCPIP version 6 firewall. You will need IPv6 installed to start the
service, it is part of the Advanced Networking Pack.
