Default Most stable Messenger for Vista?

Our group uses American Sign Language to IM communicate. Based on reading
postings and suggestions published here, we have 'standardized' on MSN
Messenger 7.5 which works well most of the time although most annoying is a
disconnect every 10-15 minutes. We live with this experience although it
seems more prevalently coming from a recently downloaded MSN Messenger 7.5
for Vista Premium. (other members are on XP home and XP Pro)

--- Question? ---Since Windows Live Messenger is the latest incarnation of
MSN Messenger and replaced XP's Windows Messenger, should we all migrate to
Windows Live Messenger. ? --- in hopes of gaining a more stable with fewer
disconnect sessions.-- Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Greetings,

On Vista you really should be using Windows Live Messenger 8.1 as it's considered the "Vista
version" of Messenger. All previous versions won't work properly on Vista (although I've
never heard of disconnections specifically).

Hi Jonathan, thank you for your recommendation for Vista, she will upgrade
to WLM 8.1. Should the XP/XP Pro users upgrade from MSN Messenger 7.5 to
Windows Live too?

FYI, the Vista member kept her old Intel webcam which installed and was
recognized by Vista w/o needing a driver!. The other members (six) are now
experiencing an increase in video picture quality when video conversing with
her !! both from the Intel receiving stream and their Sending end. ( a mix
of Logitec and Creative webcams)

Hi,

It's not necessary on XP, they're fully compatible. See my other post to you yesterday where
I go on in more detail.

That's interesting -- my Intel CS430 required me to install the Intel drivers. Additionally,
Advanced settings dialog crashes but otherwise the camera works.
