Default WingDings Have Taken Over

I have an XP Home Edition that had a LOTT of malware on it.
While going thru the steps of cleaning the computer I used Mcafee Quickclean.
Now virtually EveRyTHinG seen is in Wingding font. I've tried to use Restore
to get this corrected but don't know what to click onto to get it done. I
have a Pro edition and the screens for restore on the PRO are different than
the Home so I can't go off what my Pro shows me.

I believe that Quickclean is the reason why I have this probem.
I did some searching on the net and that's my conclusion because it
happened RIGHT AFTER I used it. Something to do with deleting some things
within the FONT part of the registry that it wasn't suopose to. I've used
Quickclean many times before and never had a problem with it. (but never
THIS Home computer)

Would anyone out there know of a way to get this thing to show ENGLISH once
again.

Any and ALL useable information on this would be Much Appreciated!!

THANX N ADVANCE,

Wayne B.

Have you tried right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties,
Appearance, and advanced to change the default font used for the
different parts of the screen?

No I haven't. I didn't even know that THAT option existed. I'm on my Pro
right now and when I went to it, the font portion of the "Advanced
Appearance" window was Greyed Out for whatever reason. I'll see if I'm able
to do something when I get to the Home XP.
(it's at another location)

You have to select one of the displayed windows before it will show the
font. Not all of the selections will have a font option.

It didn't do any good. I'm sure that it's something Much deeper than that.
It's more than just the fonts within the windows, it's THE WHOLE COMPUTER.
From desktop to the start menu to installed programs to the taskbar... even
the CLOCK!

It has to be something within the registry that's screwed up.

Any other help would still be MUCH APPRECIATED.... from ANYBODY!!!

Have you looked at the fonts entry in
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm to see if this will help?
