sending with netmeeting

We have just gotten a new Dell with Windows XP our son,
in another state, has Win 2000. When we get on net
meeting we can see and hear him but he can't us. When we
both had Win 2000 there was no problem. We don't seem to
be sending. Is the firewall a problem? If so how do we
check it? Are there any other things we should check to
make this work? What service can we email for help?
